Guyana Power & Light selects CIS solution

Georgetown, Guyana — (METERING.COM) — April 3, 2009 – Guyana power utility Guyana Power & Light Inc. has selected a CIS solution to replace its legacy CIS and billing system.

GPL began its search for a new CIS in early 2007. Working with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) GPL was able to identify and qualify firms to bid on replacing their existing legacy CIS system. After rigorous evaluation GPL selected Advanced Utility Systems’ CIS Infinity as its preferred CIS solution.

“Advanced is very committed to implementing a successful project to GPL, and increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of GPL operations,” commented Advanced’s general manager Steve Hammond. “CIS Infinity will bring true value to not only GPL, but also the country and citizens of Guyana.”

The deal also strengthens the company’s goal of becoming the premier provider of CIS software to Caribbean community nations.

Implementation of CIS Infinity is scheduled to being in May 2009.

GPL is the largest supplier of electricity in Guyana, serving approximately 130,000 electric customers.
