Of the many refreshing case studies to be heard at this year’s Metering, Billing/CIS America conference, one in particular stands out for its scale and complexity. Michael Godorov from PPL Electric Utilities will share his utility’s experiences with AMI and beyond.
PPL Electric’s customer service project has had an enormously positive effect on the industry and its customers. They are the first utility to prove that a system can handle all the interval data and also provide two years of online data for their customers to view.
PPL’s effort to provide information to customers establishes that they are proactively working to meet customer expectations. Customers should have choices in managing their usage, and providing them with powerful tools to analyze energy gives them the incentive to shift use to off-peak hours. In turn, it also provides an opportunity to shave peak demand that could result in reduced prices when purchasing from suppliers in the competitive market.
Helping customers analyze their usage and giving them some simple steps to make their homes more energy efficient can help offset future prices increases as well as protect the environment. PPL Electric continues to be ranked among the best companies in the U.S. for customer satisfaction. This ranking is based on PPL Electric’s forward thinking efforts to anticipate our customer needs and give them the tools to be more energy efficient. Our implementation of technology has improved both customer satisfaction and operational efficiencies.
Mr Godorov will discuss the project in great detail on March 23, from 1:30 pm.
