Jim Greer has been elected as Oncor’s COO, effective immediately, replacing Charles Jenkins, who has announced his intention to retire after 40 years with the company.
Greer, previously Senior Vice President, Asset Management and Engineering, has been with Oncor since 1984, having joined the company after completing his BS Electrical Engineering degree at the University of Texas at Arlington.
“Jim has been instrumental in leading the technology investment program for our grid,” said Bob Shapard, Oncor chairman and CEO. “Under his leadership, the company has become an industry leader in advanced meter deployments and has one of the most comprehensive grid technology programs in the industry.”
Greer also obtained an MBA from Texas Christian University in 1990 and completed the Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program in 2007. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas and serves on the Texas Board of Professional Engineers. He is also a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and was the 2010 recipient of the IEEE’s national Leadership in Power award.
Jenkins will remain with the company in a transitional role as Senior Vice President until his retirement date of April 1, 2012.
Brenda Pulis, previously SVP of Transmission Grid Management and System Operations, replaces Greer as SVP, Asset Management and Engineering. Mark Carpenter, previously Chief Technology Officer, moves into Pulis’ former position.
