Kansas utility, Westar Energy and Landis+Gyr have signed a contract to assist in Westar’s smart grid modernisation efforts and other customer focused schemes to giving them more options to better manage and understand their energy use.
‘System and grid infrastructure upgrades help us provide more services to customers and allow us to do that in the most cost effective and reliable way’, says senior vice president for strategy at Westar, Greg Greenwood.
Under the contract, Landis+Gyr will enhance and support Westar’s current consumer initiatives. PRNewswire reports that the technology used will aid its ‘pre-payment and variable pricing programmes, operational assistance when outages occur, delivery of customer consumption information and provide remote meter connection abilities’
