Smart Energy International’s 2nd Metering, Billing/CRM India, to take place in Mumbai, India from October 14-16, 2008, has issued a call for papers. The deadline for submission of abstracts is July 1, 2008.
Metering, Billing/CRM India 2008 will consist of a three-day conference and exhibition, showcasing local and international technologies. The event will attract approximately 400 delegates from Indian utilities and corporates, and includes international case studies, master classes, workshops and a site visit. For the first time, the event will also present Smart Grids India, focusing on modernizing ageing infrastructure as well as the latest technologies available.
Metering, Billing/CRM India will give participants an overview of technologies available and engage utility leaders to discuss how these can be implemented to achieve the targets set during the second stage of the Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Program (APDRP-II). Under APDRP-II, performing power utilities would be reimbursed 50 percent of the project cost as a grant for reducing aggregated technical and commercial (ATC) losses to 15 percent within five years. Non-performers would not be reimbursed and would have to rely on borrowings for the entire requirements of a project.
Issues covered in the main conference will include:
- Ministry of Power update on APDRP-II: How are utilities improving their performance?
- An overview of AMR/IT technologies and successful implementations
- Prepayment meter technologies
- Communication technologies, including PICC, PLC and BPL
- Outsourcing of metering services such as AMR
- Smart metering and AMI
- Open protocol issues: Looking at international benchmarks.
Issues covered in the co-located Smart Grid workshop will include:
- Increasing demand and blackouts: How can the smart grid modernize ageing infrastructure?
- Understanding how the smart grid supports revenue protection
- Comparing communication technologies that make the grid smarter
- Enabling distributed generation and integrating renewable energy sources
- Using the smart grid to detect power outages, control theft and manage peak demand
