Protecting the Electric Grid in a Dangerous World


Today, the widespread use of standard computing platforms and systems linked to the internet exposes the electric grid to new risks of internal and external compromise and potential disruption.

To protect against these attacks, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has mandated sweeping security programs. The North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Information Protection (NERC CIP) cyber security standards have established comprehensive requirements that will be phased in over the next several years.
