Smart meter approved in Argentina


Córdoba, Argentina — (METERING.COM) — November 4, 2011 – The DiMET-P smart meter has received certification from the national metrology agency, Instituto Nacional de Tecnología Industrial (INTI), Córdoba based metering and telecom product developer Discar SA has reported.

The DiMET-P is a single phase smart meter utilizing Israeli company Yitran’s PLC technology, which was wholly developed and is being produced in Argentina. It is certified according to the IRAM 2420/2001 specification.

Discar also has reported that its smart meters are being deployed at several locations in Argentina, most of them cooperative entities serving smaller towns and rural areas. Among these are the coops in Justiniano Posse, Huinca Renancó and Campillo in Córdoba province, San Martín in Entre Rios province, Carmen de Areco, Colón and Bragado in Buenos Aires province, and 2 de Mayo in Misiones.

Pilots are also to be put in two locations in Ecuador.

The company also has a three phase smart meter currently undergoing certification with INTI, which is expected in the first quarter of 2012.
