In August 2008, Seattle will host the return of the phenomenally successful Smart Metering series.
Smart Metering West Coast, August 18 – 19, Seattle, WA.
The substantial rollout of smart meters in the West Coast region has been momentous. With many projects underway and new projects in development, California alone will have more than 17.5 million smart meters deployed within the next few years. Efforts in the Northwest are gathering momentum too, with the region as a whole at the forefront of sophisticated metering technology and comprehensive applications.
As the only executive forum for smart utilities in the West Coast region; Smart Metering West Coast will deconstruct the multitude of regulatory barriers and operational challenges associated with advanced meter roll out, demand response programs and meeting energy efficiency targets.
Smart metering and AMI is transforming the energy landscape for utilities and their customers, with new ways of measuring and managing supply and use across the grid and into homes and businesses. These pioneering technologies, such as innovative time-based pricing and secure two-way communication, will open the way for smart grid reliability and operations. Meet with interstate stakeholders, national industry experts and local utilities to debate the future of smart metering along the West Coast.
Against this background Smart Metering West Coast 2008 will:
- Review the policy, regulatory, technology and commercial drivers for smart metering
- Investigate the strategies, standards and systems behind smart meter data management
- Assess smart pricing options, and explore the role of advanced metering in the evolution to an intelligent grid.
