Steven Pullins from Modern Grid Initiative to present at Smart Metering Midwest 2008

The Modern Grid Initiative is creating a shared national vision of a modern grid’s principal characteristics and key technology areas. It is analyzing performance and technology gaps, developing a national concept of the modern grid, encouraging industry consensus and coordinating regional technology integration projects.

The Initiative complements the Office of Energy’s mission, as well as industry efforts led by EPRI’s Intelligrid, the Galvin Electricity Initiative, the GridWise Architecture Council, GridApps Consortium and others that have focused on raising national awareness about the need to radically improve grid performance, reliability and security.

Steven Pullins heads the Modern Grid Initiative under contract to the National Energy Technology Laboratory, and is President at Horizon Energy Group. He has nearly 30 years of experience in the utility industry in operations, maintenance, systems engineering, training, and project development. He has managed business and technology efforts in power system optimization, RTO/ISO operations process and markets development, and strategic consulting on utility enterprise business performance.

Smart Metering Midwest, taking place from June 10–11, 2008 at the Sheraton Chicago Northwest, IL, is the only executive forum for utilities concerned with advanced metering technology and energy efficiency programs. By bringing together interstate stakeholders, industry experts and practical insight from local utilities, this exclusive event will confirm the future of smart metering in the region.
