West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) has selected Landis+Gyr to provide more than 1.5 million digital electricity meters for its modernization and rural electrification program.
The delivery period will begin by month’s end and will conclude ten months later. To achieve this schedule a dedicated manufacturing capability is being set up for Landis+Gyr’s Joka unit, located in WBSEDCL’s home town of Kolkata.
“We are honored by WBSEDCL’s continued trust in Landis+Gyr by selecting us for this contract,” commented Landis+Gyr India’s CEO, Sandip Mukherjee.
The contract is believed to be the largest electricity metering order in India for supply of single-phase meters.
